The ambition is not to create yet another suite of features. ODental wants to redesign the daily experience of dental software: easier to understand, more pleasant to use and accessible to more people — without compromising safety, accuracy or practical depth.
Practice knowledge is the starting point
Not a concept designed in isolation. The flows come from conversations with dentists, assistants and practice teams about what takes too much time and attention every day.

What practices usually ask
Can I buy this today?
The systems work and are in beta. You are not buying a box off the shelf: we set them up together around your practice and agree the pilot terms up front. In return ODental stays close and adjusts wherever friction shows up in your day-to-day.
Does this replace Exquise or our current practice management system?
No. Exquise — or the practice system you already use — remains the source system and the place where the patient record lives. ODental is a complementary browser tool for the workflows around it: anamnesis, scheduling and treatment plans. Your existing patient record stays where it is; before starting, we import the patient list so nobody needs to be entered again. There is no need to replace your current system.
What about patient data and GDPR?
Medical data is a special category of personal data and deserves extra protection. That is settled before the first real patient, not after. The application runs on a server inside the EU (Hetzner, Germany) and data is stored in managed Postgres (Supabase) in an EU region. In the standard setup, each practice is technically kept strictly separate; other practices cannot access its data. Larger practices can choose a fully dedicated database instance. You remain the data controller. Backups stay in the EU. Before going live, we document a data processing agreement, personal access with logging, retention periods and the list of subprocessors. The technical foundation follows NEN 7510 principles, but is not certified yet. The demos run on invented data.
Which languages does the anamnesis support?
Dutch, English, German, French, Ukrainian, Russian and Turkish. Adding a language is a matter of translation, not rebuilding.
Does it work on a tablet and on a phone?
The anamnesis is made for a tablet in the waiting room. The schedule works on a computer and on a phone, because looking at it on the go is the whole point.
Does this work outside the Netherlands?
Yes. The tariff codes in the treatment plans are currently based on the Dutch UPT system, but every country has its own code list and lab items — these can be configured on request. The rest is not country-specific: the schedule works the same anywhere and the anamnesis is already multilingual.
What does it cost?
Individual modules start at €39 per month including VAT. Essentials starts at €89, Practice at €129 and Complete at €159. The monthly price follows the number of active clinicians; supporting users and devices are not licensed separately. The calculator gives an estimate. We confirm the final price and migration after a call.
What if Odental Systems stops — or something happens to you?
A fair question about young software. The systems are being built to be modular and transferable, with your own record as the source and clear agreements around access to data and code.
- Your own records stay the source — These systems do not replace your practice software. Exquise — or whatever system you use — remains the source for the patient record. Every completed anamnesis and every treatment plan goes back as a PDF into that record. If this disappeared tomorrow, everything you made is still sitting in your own system.
- Data is separated per practice — In the standard setup, data from several practices sits in one EU database but is technically kept strictly separate per practice. No other practice can access your data. Larger practices can choose a fully dedicated database instance. You can export everything at any time in an open standard format: no lock-in, no ticket and no export fee.
- The architecture is ready now, escrow at around ten practices — Honest about the stage: technically a practice can already be handed over in full — its data is exportable in a documented, open format and the code sits separately from it. A formal escrow agent gets added once around ten practices are running; before that the annual cost does not add up. Until then, we document at signing who gets access to the source code and how the code and your data are released if the project is unavailable for a long time or ends. Ordinary web technology, so taking it over needs no rebuild.

On the roadmap
Interested in clinical decision support?
A separate module that brings certain answers to attention is on the roadmap, but is not part of the current beta. It gives no diagnoses, ASA scores, risk assessments, red flags or treatment advice. If practices see a need for it, we will later explore a separate MDR pathway and clinical-legal review.
