In plain language
R24 is the definitively placed crown on a natural tooth.
The NZa links R24 to the moment the final crown is placed. The description includes the steps needed to make that crown fit and place it.
What belongs to R24?
- Preparing for a crown that covers the tooth fully or at least three complete surfaces.
- Impressions, a standard bite registration and choosing the shade.
- Fitting and placing the temporary and final crown, including necessary gum corrections.
Why is there sometimes an asterisk?
- Under the NZa regulation, material and/or technical costs may be shown separately with R24 when the conditions are met.
- Those costs should be specified. The asterisk does not mean an extra amount is always added automatically.
Useful when reading an invoice
- R24 may also be used when the crown serves as an abutment for a bridge.
- Read the crown line together with any R31, X-ray and specified technical lines to understand the complete overview.
