In plain language
The periodic check-up is the standard appointment for reviewing oral health.
C002 is the line for a general periodic check-up. It remains separate from additional actions so an invoice shows what the check-up costs and what may have been registered alongside it.
What belongs to this line?
- Reviewing teeth, molars and gums during a regular check-up.
- Where applicable: the PPS gum score.
- Preventive explanation or instruction up to five minutes, a referral and small actions without their own performance code.
What is normally shown separately?
- Cleaning, an X-ray image or restorative work each have their own performance and can therefore appear as separate lines.
- At a first visit with a new practitioner, C001 for an intake may appear instead of a regular periodic check-up.
Useful when reading an invoice
- Read C002 together with the lines below it: they show which additional actions were registered.
- The frequency of check-ups or a next proposal does not follow automatically from this code; that is decided in conversation with the practice.
